First Azerbaijani Gas Targeted For Gazprom

Russia has signed an agreement with Azerbaijan for the supply of 500 MMcm/a of natural gas that will be pumped via a pipeline running between the two nations.

The deal between Gazprom and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan will see Azerbaijani gas transported to Russia from Jan. 1, 2010, which will be used in Russia’s southern regions. Azerbaijan said a greater volume of supply later on was very likely. The Azerbaijani gas will be supplied via existing infrastructure.
