Matthew R. Simmons, founder of the Ocean Energy Research Institute in Rockland, Maine, passed away suddenly on August 8.

CRC-Evans Pipeline International announced July 30 that CRC-Evans has been acquired by Stanley Black & Decker for $445 million in cash. The companies expect that the acquisition should enhance CRC-Evans’ global growth strategy and its services to customers worldwide. R&D and technology leadership will continue to be emphasized, and Stanley Black and Decker’s resources should enable CRC-Evans to achieve even higher performance standards.

Atlas Pipeline Partners, LP (APL), announced July 27 that it has appointed Matthew Skelly as vice president of investor relations and capital markets. Brian Begley, who was serving as vice president of investor relations for APL until this point, will focus his responsibilities as VP of investor relations for Atlas Energy, Inc.

Eastern Shore Natural Gas Company (ESNG), a subsidiary of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation, received the American Gas Association's Safety Achievement Award for the seventh year in a row. The 2009 Safety Achievement Award, presented at AGA's 2010 Operations Conference on May 12 in New Orleans was given to companies that achieved the lowest "DART" incident rate -- a mathematical calculation that describes the number of recordable injuries and illnesses per 100 full-time employees that resulted in days away from work or restricted work activity.

Paul van Gelder was named CEO at N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie, beginning on Sept. 1. He will succeed Marcel Kramer, whose contract terminates at the end of August when he turns 60.

Philip B. Drake has joined Bonacker Interactive as creative director. Drake brings over 20 years experience to the position, including extensive experience in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

UniversalPegasus International announced June 8 that it has named Gary Hymel as the onshore director of business development.
